Net migration

The movement of people across national borders is a visible and increasingly important aspect of global integration. 3% of the world's people - more than 190 million - now live in countries in which they were not born.

The forces driving the flow of migrants from poor countries to rich countries are likely to grow stronger in the future as people seek political refuge or a higher standard of living in places away from where they were born.
