Employment by sector
Employment stability is the core of a stable economy but as economies change and develop, so must employment structure. Unpaid family work features strongly in the economy of many nations and this dependency lessens as nations develop.
One indicator of a developed country is an increase of the proportion of the workforce employed in services such as finance, the media, retail and tourism. But development brings further employment challenges so that unemployment, youth unemployment, training and the employment of women are all issues remaining high in priority on political agendas, especially in the developed world.
