Western Europe

The Western Europe region includes the following nine countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands and Switzerland. Mountains ranges such as the Pyrenees and the Alps separate this region from Southern Europe.

All these countries are included in the group of countries described as high-income developed countries, characterized by democratic political systems, mixed economies combining the free market with aspects of the welfare state and most are members of the European Union.
