Aarav Seth

SDG Ambassador: Goal 13: Climate action

At the tender age of eight, I encountered the issue of global warming, which is causing devastating changes to world climate. I realized that if nothing were done, right now, the world would soon become inhabitable and threaten the very survival of mankind. I thought that no one on Earth should experience this calamity. To tackle this I started taking steps like conducting plantation drives every weekend. Eventually, planting trees became my passion which led me to plant 4,000 trees. I have also convinced my friends to work with me as a team to tackle climate change through tree plantations.

Through my efforts, I am able to bring a positive change around me by gifting plants on special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries of my loved ones and people have started following this suite.

I am also a Child Ambassador of SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Choupal and Ambassador of SDGsForChildren.

During this Covid-19 pandemic, I have initiated three campaigns:

  1. SundayforSecuredFuture: whereby I encourage youngsters to take positive action for the climate, every Sunday.
  2. She Hygiene: focuses on distributing sanitary pads to girls who cannot afford to buy this basic necessity.
  3. Helping Hands: encourage people to donate items such as clothes, books, shoes, food, etc to underprivileged children.

Manya Vohra

“Leave no one behind” is the motto of sustainable goal and the main agenda being to light for the world!

The SDG’s are the universal goals inherently global in nature. Learning about these initiatives helped me by developing insights into critical issues around the world, such as lack of access of clean water and gender equality. These issues are truly inseparable in nature and to understand it in a better way, we have to learn the issues of our world.

We the students of IPS worked under the heading of “CLIMATE ACTION PROJECT” under goal number 13 of SDG, in which we worked on creating awareness – raising human and institutional capacity on Climate Change mitigation, adaptation, impact reduction and early warning. We casted a video and presented our views with our peers of Amity International School.

Exposing myself to this platform, I was able to understand the unique challenges faced by the communities, which I was not aware about before. Thanking IPS, for providing this platform!

I hope the idea of the goals should reach to each and every honoured citizen of our Mother Earth, so that more and more efforts are brought together.

“Our climate is at stake, so lets become a climate activists together!”
