Death rates

The death rate is an indicator of the impact of mortality on population growth. Even more revealing as an indicator of a country’s health is the infant mortality rate.

Child mortality is closely linked to poverty with the vast majority of deaths in developing countries caused by factors that are preventable through a combination of good care, nutrition and simple medical treatment.
