Ecological Debtors & Creditors
Ecological Footprint is often compared with biocapacity, or the ability of the land to supply resources and absorb waste. A country's biocapacity, which can also be expressed in global hectares per person, is its total amount of biologically productive land divided by its population. An ecological debtor is when the country's ecological footprint is greater than its biocapacity. And ecological creditor is when the country's ecological footprint is less than its biocapacity.
