About the Championship

Collins India is proud to announce the highly anticipated sixth season of Collins Spelling Bee, a National Level Championship.

Launched in 2020 amidst the pandemic to help children navigate through the crisis while not losing out on the different activities they could partake in during the pre-covid days, Collins Spelling Bee has garnered an overwhelming response from schools nationwide. Year after year, Collins Spelling Bee continues to inspire young minds, fostering a love for language and encouraging students to explore the power of words.

All words for the competition will be taken from the Collins COBUILD Learner’s Illustrated Dictionary (3rd Edition) — the official study companion for this year’s Spelling Bee. Designed especially for learners, this richly illustrated dictionary builds vocabulary, strengthens spelling, and enhances word understanding. Jury and Announcer

Peggy Sood is an American educator with over 50 years of experience in India, including 18 years as Vice Principal at the American Embassy School, New Delhi. She now works as a literacy and curriculum consultant, specializing in spelling and foundational learning.

Pradeep Kumar Singh is a veteran journalist and radio professional, best known for his role as Chief Newsreader (English) at All India Radio from 2003 to 2017. He also led AIR’s Market Mantra and has contributed to major publications like The Times of India and The Indian Express.

Sunit Tandon is President of the Delhi Music Society and a former Director of the India Habitat Centre and the Indian Institute of Mass Communication. A well-known broadcaster, theatre director, and actor, he has also headed Lok Sabha TV and the International Film Festival of India.

Announcer

Ajay Poonia, Founder & CEO of QryptiQ, is a quizmaster, author, and TV anchor known for turning trivia into engaging learning experiences. He creates content for top trivia platforms, hosts panels, and simplifies complex ideas across media, inspiring curiosity and joyful learning.
